Conn Creek Winery Finds a New Home
Published On: May 22, 2026
There’s a certain kind of Napa Valley story that doesn’t get told often enough. It’s not the triumphant grand opening, or the renovation reveal, but the more compelling story of a winery that simply refuses to stop being great. Conn Creek Winery is telling that story right now.
Founded in 1973 by Bill and Kathy Collins on the banks of the winding Conn Creek in Rutherford, this winery was among the pioneering handful that put Napa Valley on the world’s wine map. When their 1974 Eisele Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon dropped jaws across the country, Robert Parker called it “one of the great classics of the seventies.” That’s the kind of origin story that refuses to fade.
So when the winery facility on the Silverado Trail closed its doors, loyal fans held their breath. But here’s what they discovered: Conn Creek didn’t disappear. It evolved.
Enter The Yount Room. Located at Yountville Station, at 6505 Washington Street—the storied Yountville Depot building in the heart of downtown Yountville—this intimate tasting destination is where Conn Creek has planted its new flag. And the setting suits the brand perfectly. It has historic bones, a sense of occasion, and the kind of atmosphere where great wine gets the attention it deserves.
The wines themselves? As good as they’ve ever been. Conn Creek’s enduring genius lies with its current winemaker, the respected Jean Hoefliger, but also in its sourcing strategy. The draw Cabernet Sauvignon from nearly all of Napa Valley’s distinct sub-appellations, essentially treating the entire valley as their winemaker’s spice rack. The flagship Anthology Cabernet Sauvignon — named for a collection of stories — weaves together fruit from up to 16 AVAs into a single, deeply layered wine. It is, in every sense, the autobiography of a valley, written one vintage at a time.
Beyond the Anthology, the AVA Series offers something rare: the chance to taste 100% single-appellation Cabernets side by side, from Calistoga to Carneros. It’s less a tasting and more a masterclass in Napa terroir, and the kind of experience that reframes everything you thought you knew about the valley. Come in a casual wine lover; leave a convert.
The Yount Room operates as a collective space, home to a curated group of standout brands, but the Conn Creek experience holds its own. Walk in without a reservation or plan your visit in advance; either way, you’ll find wines poured with the kind of knowledge and warmth that comes from people who genuinely believe in what’s in the glass.
The address has changed. The building is different. But what matters — the winemaking philosophy, the commitment to Bordeaux-styled excellence, the half-century of earned credibility — has moved right along with it, fully intact.
Conn Creek is still here. Still pouring. Still exceptional.
