The Oakland Ballet Company has inspired the East Bay community and beyond for more than 54 years through the art of ballet.
From modern masterpieces to works of the Diaghilev Repertoire, Artistic Director Graham Lustig has renewed a commitment to showcase artistic excellence with imaginative programs that promise to engage all audiences.
Through the continuous support and donations from across the San Francisco Bay Area and 2019 sponsors Bridge Bank, Oakland Athletics, Orton Development, US Bank, and Wells Fargo the Oakland Ballet’s is able to support a range of educational and artistic activities that reach into all corners of the East Bay.
On Saturday April 13th inside the historic Bellevue Club on Oakland’s Lake Merritt, the Oakland Ballet Company (OBC) will present its annual Spring Gala fundraiser event from 6 – 10 pm. Through an ongoing tradition, the evening is hosted by ABC7 news reporter, Cheryl Jennings and includes a cocktail and hors d’ oeuvres reception; in addition to a performance featuring highlights from OBC spring season, Jazz Vistas. Those who plan to attend will enjoy a splendid three-course dinner catered by the Bellevue Club; and a silent auction offering vacations packages, tickets to local sporting and entertainment events, luxury goods, and local services. At the end of the evening attendees are invited to dance with members of the Oakland Ballet following dinner, with live provided by Little Jonny and the Giants.
“The most special thing about Oakland Ballet Company is the city of Oakland—where it has been, and where it is going,” said Artistic Director, Graham Lustig. “Music and dance are part of the fabric of this town. Jazz Vistas looks back to honor Oakland’s rich cultural heritage, while also looking forward to support the creation of new work by artists living and working in the city today.”
With inspiration from such a vast range of generosity, the volunteers and donations toward the Oakland Ballet have proven to be successful. However, no event would be complete without an elegant bottle of wine, for those who would like to support OBC you can by donate a bottle or two of your favorite special occasion wine to help stock the ballets wine cellar for this year’s Spring Gala or other opening night performance receptions.
