Mallett Vineyards’ Trevor Mallett’s journey to the wine industry wasn’t paved with sun-drenched vineyards and rolling hills—it began on the dusty baseball fields. As a catcher, he learned discipline, precision, and resilience, skills that later served him well in the world of wine. His pivot from the dugout to the vineyard came during a college move north, where the untamed wilderness of Northern California drew him in. It was here, in a small, family-run winery in Napa, that Trevor first traded the crack of a bat for the rhythm of a wine press.
During those early days in the cellar, Trevor’s appreciation for the “unseen hands” of winemaking—the tireless cellar workers who shaped the foundation of the craft—took root. Mallett Vineyards was born from that vision, a tribute to the “cellar rats” of winemaking lore, the unglamorous heroes who labor tirelessly to bring great wines to life.
Trevor’s journey didn’t stop in the cellar. Armed with the discipline and resilience he honed as a catcher at the University of Missouri, along with a finance degree from Mizzou and an MBA in Wine Business from Sonoma State University, Trevor seamlessly bridged his strategic acumen with an artisan’s passion for winemaking.
Mallett Vineyards isn’t just about wine. It’s a continuation of a journey that began in the dirt—whether on a baseball diamond or in the vineyard. And now, through every pour of Mallett wine, that journey lives on, through every sip—to taste not just Napa Valley but the grit, passion, and heart behind it.
The Wines
2017 MALLETT VINEYARDS Reserve Yountville Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
Mallett’s 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is more than just a wine—it’s a story of place. From the revered terroir of Yountville comes a wine that’s as layered as the soil it springs from. With a deep garnet hue that catches the light like a gemstone, this Cabernet opens with a seductive bouquet of blackcurrant, dark cherry, and plum.
Aging in French oak barrels for 18 months lends whispers of vanilla, nutmeg, and a wisp of tobacco leaf, like a fleeting memory of old Napa. It’s rich and velvety on the palate, with tannins that caress rather than overwhelm. The finish lingers, a reminder that great wines, like great stories, take their time to unfold.
2019 MALLETT VINEYARDS Muir Hanna Vineyard Oak Knoll District Napa Valley Chardonnay
Few vineyards carry the weight of history like the Muir-Hanna Vineyard, whose Chardonnay was crowned victorious in the legendary 1976 Paris Tasting. The 2019 MALLETT Chardonnay pays homage to this iconic heritage with a wine that marries Burgundian finesse with Napa Valley opulence. Crisp notes of golden apple, ripe pear, and citrus dance on the nose and are underscored by a subtle minerality that whispers of the Oak Knoll soil. French oak aging imparts a creamy texture and a kiss of toasted hazelnut, balanced by a vibrant acidity that leaves the palate craving more. This wine doesn’t just tell a story—it writes its own chapter in Napa Valley’s storied history.
