Sing Napa Valley presents “A Christmas Carol”

Sing Napa Valley is proud to present A Christmas Carol by British composer Ashley Thompson, with lyrics by Deborah McAndrew, based on the book by Charles Dickens, with professional soloist, baritone Igor Vieira (San Francisco Opera Chorus) as Ebenezer Scrooge. Conducted by Jan Lanterman and accompanied by Ellen Patterson, the performance will take place on Sunday, December 17, 2023, at 3 pm in the beautiful acoustics of the sanctuary of Napa Methodist Church, 625 Randolph Street at Fifth Street, in downtown Napa.

As a preface to his book, Charles Dickens wrote, “I have endeavoured in this Ghostly little book, to raise the Ghost of an Idea, which shall not put my readers out of humour with themselves, with each other, with the season, or with me. Sing Napa Valley was honored to present the United States premiere of this work in December 2016 and is performing it again in 2023 by popular demand as part of the intergenerational Sing Napa Valley’s celebration of its sixtieth anniversary season. Future Sing Napa Valley concerts in this sixtieth year include the Mozart Requiem  in April and Songs of the Seventies in June.

Sing Napa Valley began in 1963 and continues to present a wide variety of choral music and performs four major concerts each year. The chorus’s season generally conforms to the school year and begins in September and ends in June.
