Ada Limon is the author of six books of poetry, one of which won the National Book Critics Circle Award for Poetry. She also hosted the critically acclaimed poetry podcast, The Slowdown. Her newest book, The Hurting Kind, reflects her native Sonoma roots and appreciation for nature. Growing up in Sonoma fostered her creativity and caused nature to be her leading poetic influence.
Sonoma born Ada Limon, the 24th Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry, recently announced she has been appointed to serve a second term in the position. Limon is the first Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry to ever be appointed to a two year long second term. During her first term alone she traveled around the globe speaking, trying to inspire and spread the importance and reach of poetry. On an international scale, her profound words have educated and impacted many.
Going forward into her second term as Poet Laureate Consultant in Poetry, Limon intends to continue broadening the scope of poetry. She’ll be starting by launching partnerships with both federal and non-federal organizations, and soon releasing a new book of her poems and writings.
